LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certificate
It is an internationally renowned certificate that is used to recognize buildings that are designed, built and used in accordance with the principles of environmental protection and sustainable development. Based on LEED certification activities and design solutions, LEED projects aim to:
provide the users of the building with an environmentally friendly transport connection;
increase resource efficiency;
reduce energy and water consumption;
improve waste management;
reduce the environmental impact of construction works;
improve the microclimate and job satisfaction.
To date, dozens of different LEED assessment systems have been developed that provide sufficient flexibility to achieve LEED certification regardless of the type of building. Each evaluation system has different requirements that correspond to the selected building and project type. Evaluation systems can be divided into five main categories:
LEED certificate for a new building (sub-categories include, for example, the LEED certificate for hospitals, schools, retail space, etc.)
LEED certificate for an existing building;
LEED certificate for interior design;
LEED certificate for neighbourhood development;
LEED certificate for private houses.
Points are awarded according to five main categories:
location and construction of a building
energy use - heating, cooling and electricity consumption of a building;
use of materials and resources;
quality of internal environment and the level of satisfaction of the people who work there.
